A devastating incident occurred this morning in the Suprakandi area of the Sri Bhumi district, where five young aspirants preparing for the Police Recruitment Physical Examination were struck and critically injured by a speeding truck.
The victims—identified as Sanjay Namasudra, Priya Shuklabaidya, Sourav Namasudra, Samrat Roy, and Jali Namasudra—were practicing running by the roadside when the tragedy unfolded.
Dreams Interrupted: Accident During Training Run
The five youths, committed to clearing the physical requirements for the police force, were engaged in their regular running drills when a heavy truck (registration number AS01 LC 0532) traveling at high speed hit them.
All five victims sustained critical injuries, comprising three males and two females. They were rushed to the hospital immediately for urgent medical treatment, where their condition remains serious. The incident has cast a shadow over the hopes and dreams of these young individuals.

Driver Cites Fog, Police Investigate
The truck attempted to flee the scene but was intercepted by alert local residents, who detained the driver until the authorities arrived.
The driver has been identified as Sudip Barman, a resident of Agartala, Tripura. During the initial statement to the police, Barman claimed the accident was caused by the dense, foggy weather in the early morning, which severely limited his visibility and prevented him from avoiding the collision.
The Nilambazar Police have formally detained the driver and seized the vehicle. They have launched a thorough investigation to verify the driver’s claim and determine if negligence was a factor in the tragic incident that has severely impacted the police recruitment aspirants.
