Kailashahar, Tripura: In a significant crackdown on narcotics trade, the Kailashahar Police Station and TSR (Tripura State Rifles) personnel carried out a successful joint operation, seizing nearly 7 kilograms of packaged cannabis (Ganja).
The raid took place late Monday night in the Dolugaon area under the Birenchandra Nagar Gram Panchayat, following specific intelligence inputs.
The operation was led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), IPS Raghul A.
Arrest and Investigation
During the comprehensive search operation, a large quantity of packaged Ganja was recovered from inside the house of local resident Neelakanta Sinha. Sinha was immediately arrested at the scene.
Police sources indicate that Neelakanta Sinha had been under surveillance for some time, following numerous complaints from local residents regarding his long-term involvement in the illegal drug trade.
A case has been formally registered against the arrested individual under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The successful raid has created a major stir in the area. Local residents have expressed gratitude for the rigorous surveillance and expect that the decisive action by the administration will significantly curb the menace of drug trafficking in Dolugaon and the surrounding regions.
