An autorickshaw driver was arrested in Dholai with ₹2 lakh in fake ₹500 notes. The police also seized the vehicle and registered a case against the accused.
In a meticulously planned operation, Dholai police apprehended a 30-year-old autorickshaw driver, Nizam Uddin Laskar, with counterfeit currency amounting to ₹2 lakh in ₹500 denominations. Acting on a confidential tip-off, the police stationed themselves near the Dholai police station. At around 8 PM, the autorickshaw numbered AS-103 7282 approached the location.
Upon stopping and searching the vehicle, the officers discovered 400 fake ₹500 notes concealed inside. The driver, identified as a resident of Rajghat First Part in South Dholai, was immediately taken into custody.
The police have registered a case under relevant sections and presented the accused in court on Saturday. The autorickshaw used in the operation was also seized as evidence. This incident highlights the diligence of the Dholai police in cracking down on counterfeit currency in the region.
