Rail connectivity between the Barak Valley, Tripura, and the rest of the country faced major disruptions on Saturday following structural track settlement at Harangajao (NHGJ) station along the Lumding–Badarpur single-line non-electrified hill section.
In an official notification issued by the Chief Passenger Transportation Manager (CPTM) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), authorities confirmed the immediate suspension of Line-1 and Line-2 at Harangajao station due to unsafe track conditions.
To ensure passenger safety, NFR has restricted all movement through the single operational line (Line-3) under strict physical monitoring, imposing a complete night-travel window that halts passenger train movement through the hill section between 19:00 hours and 05:00 hours.
Complete List of Cancelled Services
As a direct result of the night-window restriction and track stabilization work, several key daily express services connecting Guwahati, Silchar, and Dullabcherra have been cancelled:
- Train 15617 (Guwahati – Dullabcherra Express): Cancelled for Journey Commencing On (JCO) July 25, 2026.
- Train 15618 (Dullabcherra – Guwahati Express): Cancelled for JCO July 26, 2026.
- Train 15615 (Guwahati – Silchar Express): Cancelled for JCO July 25, 2026.
- Train 15616 (Silchar – Guwahati Express): Cancelled for JCO July 26, 2026.

To prevent passenger trains from traversing the vulnerable Harangajao section during nocturnal hours, NFR has revised departure times for several major regional and long-distance trains:

Railway engineering teams have been mobilized at Harangajao station to rectify the track settlement and restore structural stability to Line-1 and Line-2.

“The safety and security of passengers remain our top priority. Due to the critical nature of the hill terrain, train movements are being strictly regulated through Line-3 under constant engineering supervision until full restoration is achieved.”
