Lakhipur Aspirational Block Review: Central Officer Visit

Silchar, Cachar: To accelerate inclusive development and bridge critical infrastructure gaps, Suvasish Das, IFoS, Director of e-Governance (DARPG), Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, conducted a comprehensive review of the Aspirational Blocks Programme (ABP) in Lakhipur, Cachar.

As the nominated Central Prabhari Officer for the block, Das emphasized that the initiative is designed to transform grassroots governance through innovation and inter-departmental convergence.

Transformative Governance and Performance Review
During a high-level meeting at the District Commissioner’s office, chaired alongside Cachar DC Mridul Yadav, IAS, officials reviewed Lakhipur’s progress across several key performance indicators (KPIs). The discussions highlighted:

  • Sectoral Growth: Tangible improvements in Health & Nutrition, Education, and Agriculture.
  • Data-Driven Decisions: The shift toward evidence-based monitoring to ensure services reach the last mile.
  • Collaborative Effort: DC Mridul Yadav noted that the ABP is a “transformative instrument” aimed at real-time problem-solving rather than mere statistical rankings.

Field Inspection: Assessing Ground Reality
Following the review, Suvasish Das undertook an extensive field tour to witness the implementation of flagship schemes. His visit included:

  • Education & Child Care: Inspection of the 23 No. Jirighat Bazar Anganwadi Centre and Nandankanan TG LP School to evaluate nutritional and learning standards.
  • Healthcare Services: A visit to the Jirighat Mini Primary Health Centre to check medical delivery efficiency.
  • Livelihood & Agriculture: An inspection of a local pineapple production site and the Hmar Agro Organic Producer Company Office at Hmarkhawlien, highlighting the block’s potential for organic farming and farmer-led enterprises.
