Lumding–Badarpur Rail Crisis: Fresh Cancellations & Reschedules Announced for July 30–31

Date:

Railway operations through the vital Lumding–Badarpur hill section remain severely compromised as the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) announced a fresh round of cancellations, rescheduling, and en-route regulations for July 30 and July 31, 2026. The revised schedule comes in the wake of ongoing operational hazards at New Harangajao (NHGJ) station caused by persistent track settlement.

According to railway officials, passenger train transit through the NHGJ stretch continues to be completely suspended during night hours—between 07:00 PM and 05:00 AM—as a safety precaution. With both Line No. 1 and Line No. 2 at NHGJ rendered unserviceable, NFR engineering teams are managing all rail traffic through a single operational line (Line No. 3) under strict speed restrictions and round-the-clock monitoring.

Fresh List of Cancelled Trains (July 30–31)

NFR has confirmed the cancellation of the following passenger services:

  • 15618 Dullabcherra – Guwahati Express (JCO 30.07.2026): Cancelled between Dullabcherra and Guwahati.
  • 15615 Guwahati – Silchar Express (JCO 30.07.2026): Fully cancelled between Guwahati and Silchar.
  • 15616 Silchar – Guwahati Express (JCO 31.07.2026): Fully cancelled between Silchar and Guwahati.

Train Regulated En Route

  • 12503 SMVT Bengaluru – Agartala Express (JCO 28.07.2026): Will experience regulation en route over the Lumding Division to manage operational congestion at NHGJ.

Passenger Advisory

The NFR administration has urged passengers travelling between Barak Valley, Tripura, Mizoram, and mainland Assam to verify real-time train status via the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) app or railway contact numbers before heading to stations, as restoration work continues at New Harangajao.
