NFR Cancels 4 Express Trains and Reschedules 13 Services Over Track Subsidence

Train services connecting the Barak Valley, Tripura, Mizoram, and Manipur with the rest of India remain severely disrupted following major track subsidence (soil settlement) on the Lumding–Badarpur hill section. According to an emergency bulletin issued by the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Lumding Division on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, railway authorities have been forced to cancel four passenger services, reschedule 13 express trains, and regulate six long-distance trains en route.

The disruption stems from a 200-meter stretch of track damage near New Harangajao (NHGJ) station on the single-line, non-electrified Lumding–Badarpur section. Line No. 1 has been out of service since 12:00 hrs on July 20, while Line No. 2 was suspended at 23:05 hrs on July 23. Currently, all trains are being routed exclusively through Line No. 3 under strict speed restrictions and continuous safety monitoring.

To ensure passenger safety and prevent train movement through the vulnerable hill section during night hours, NFR has enforced a total suspension of passenger train transit between 19:00 hrs and 05:00 hrs.

Fully and Partially Cancelled Train Services

NFR has announced the full or partial cancellation of four key express services operating through the section:

• 15617 Guwahati – Dullabcherra Express (DN): Cancelled between Guwahati and Dullabcherra on July 25, 27, and 29.
• 15618 Dullabcherra – Guwahati Express (UP): Cancelled between Dullabcherra and Guwahati on July 26, 28, and 30.
• 15615 Guwahati – Silchar Express (DN): Fully cancelled from July 25 to July 29.
• 15616 Silchar – Guwahati Express (UP): Fully cancelled from July 26 to July 30.

Rescheduled Train Timings

To avoid navigating the hill section during the restricted night window (19:00 hrs to 05:00 hrs), departure timings for 13 express services have been revised:

• 15650 Nagaon – Agartala Express (DN): Scheduled departure at 17:00 hrs (July 25–29) rescheduled to 22:30 hrs.
• 15649 Agartala – Nagaon Express (UP): Scheduled departure at 21:30 hrs (July 25–29) rescheduled to 23:00 hrs.
• 15609 Guwahati – Sangaldan Express (DN): Scheduled departure at 19:00 hrs (July 25–29) rescheduled to 23:30 hrs.
• 15610 Sangaldan – Guwahati Express (UP): Scheduled departure at 19:00 hrs (July 25–29) rescheduled to 21:30 hrs.
• 15626 Agartala – Deoghar Express (UP): Scheduled departure at 19:00 hrs on July 25 rescheduled to 23:30 hrs.
• 15611 Rangiya – Silchar Express (DN): Scheduled departure at 19:00 hrs (July 25–29) rescheduled to 23:30 hrs.
• 15612 Silchar – Rangiya Express (UP): Scheduled departure at 23:00 hrs (July 25–30) rescheduled to 05:00 hrs (next morning).
• 01666 Agartala – Rani Kamalapati Special (DN): Scheduled departure at 17:20 hrs on July 26 rescheduled to 23:30 hrs.
• 20501 Agartala – Anand Vihar Tejas Express (DN): Scheduled departure at 15:00 hrs on July 27 rescheduled to 23:00 hrs.
• 14037 Silchar – New Delhi PSK Express (DN): Scheduled departure at 19:10 hrs on July 27 rescheduled to 04:10 hrs on July 28.
• 12504 Agartala – SMVT Bengaluru Express (DN): On July 28, departure will be rescheduled suitably based on the late arrival of the incoming rake.
• 15628 Silchar – Coimbatore Express (DN): Scheduled service for July 28 rescheduled to depart on July 29.
• 15646 Silchar – Charaideo Express (UP): Scheduled service for July 29 rescheduled to depart on July 30.

Trains Regulated En Route

To manage operational bottlenecks on Line No. 3, six incoming long-distance trains are being regulated en route across the Lumding Division:

1. 01665 Rani Kamalapati – Agartala TOD Special (JCO 23.07.26)
2. 12503 SMVT Bengaluru – Agartala Express (JCO 24.07.26) — Running approximately 13 hours late.
3. 15645 Charaideo – Silchar Express (JCO 25.07.26)
4. 12501 Kolkata – Agartala Express (JCO 26.07.26)
5. 15625 Deoghar – Agartala Express (JCO 27.07.26)
6. 17031 Charaideo – Agartala Express (JCO 27.07.26)

Restoration Work and Official Advisory

NFR engineering teams and technical personnel are deployed on site at New Harangajao on a war footing to stabilize the embankment and restore normal operations on Lines 1 and 2. However, railway officials have not provided a fixed timeline for full restoration due to ongoing soil movement and terrain instability in the hill section.
